English

English is taught through an integrated programme of speaking and listening, reading and writing. The children’s abilities in English are developed across the curriculum. Children are taught to communicate and express themselves clearly, for a variety of audiences, in speech and writing. As part of the Northern Education Trust model, we use an agreed book spine of quality texts. These rich texts support the curriculum and the development of writing in all curriculum areas.

Handwriting

The school has a simple yet consistent handwriting style which is taught to all of our children from Reception onwards. Our children write beautifully and are very proud of their work. Once children are ready, they are taught to join their handwriting. From Year 3, children can earn their pen license and this is celebrated in school.

Norton Primary Academy is a member of the Northern Education Trust.
We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.
